May 25 | Fastorum Liber Quintus: Maius
A C | VIII Kal. | V.729-732, on this day a temple was dedicated to Public Fortune.
Nec te praetereo, populi Fortuna potentis
Publica, cui templum luce sequente datum est. 730
hanc ubi dives aquis acceperit Amphitrite,
grata Iovi fulvae rostra videbis avis.
729 Nor will I pass thee over, thou Public Fortune of the powerful people, to whom a temple was dedicated next day. When that day shall have sunk into Amphitrite’s wealth of waters, thou wilt see the beak of the tawny bird, dear to Jupiter.
