Altera pars Circi Custode sub Hercule tuta est:
quod deus Euboico carmine munus habet. 210
muneris est tempus, qui Nonas Lucifer ante est:
si titulum quaeris, Sulla probavit opus.
209 The other part of the Circus is protected by Guardian Hercules: the god holds office in virtue of the Euboean oracle.1 The time of his taking office is the day before the Nones. If you ask about the inscription, it was Sulla who approved the work.
